Del tamaño de una uña - A nail size

Después de un fin de semana trabajando en algunas fotos, aquí os traigo una pequeña muestra XXS de la vida marina de Filipinas. Parece increíble que estén ahí, tan diminutos, tan mimetizados y a la vez tan hermosos. Asia siempre garantiza que el llevar el frontal macro sea una decisión acertada. Todas estas fotos están sacadas con un objetivo 30 mm + una lente de 5x, y siempre se me quedaba corto!! Recomiendo bucear antes de estos viajes, la cámara agradece una buena flotabilidad!!

A pesar de la mala visibilidad que tuvimos, creo que el resultado es satisfactorio. Mis favoritos? Los mini-gobios y el cangrejo del coral blando, un completo "transformer underwater".









After a weekend working on some photos, here you have a sample of the XXS Philippines underwater. It is so unbelievable that they are there, so little, so camouflage and at the same time, so beautiful. Asia always guarantees that bringing macro lens is a right choice. All these photos were taken with a 30mm lens and an additional of 5x, and I felt I needed more!! I strongly recommend to dive before this kind of trips, the camera welcomes a good buoyancy!!

Despite the bad visibility we had, I think the result is very satisfactory. My favorites? the mini-gobies and the soft coral crab, it is a real "underwater-transformer"

Que llega la marabunta!! - Crowd is coming!!

Hace 2 años, en nuestro primer viaje a Filipinas, íbamos con muchas ganas de encontrarnos con el famoso "sardine run" que se podía disfrutar en la Isla Pescador. Pero hacía 3 meses que se habían ido.

Cuando hemos vuelto, una de las grandes alegría fue que habían vuelto. Estaban frente a un resort de buceo, muy cerca al nuestro. Los guías locales no eran muy amigos de hacer esa inmersión, porque la pared estaba bastante destruída, con escasas atracciones más allá de las sardinas. Pero es que las sardinas son un espectáculo en sí mismo.

El banco se encuentra entre 3 y 11 metros. De hecho cuando te zambulles en el agua, ya no ves a tu pareja. Estás rodeada por todas partes de sardinas plateadas, y una vez que estás debajo de todas ellas, la noche se hace presente. Formas hermosas según se van moviendo, según tu entras en el banco... Una inmersión realmente fabulosa e inolvidable.

Donde mejor se aprecian sus movimientos es el video, obviamente, así que os dejo el que hicieron mis amigos de La Isleta del Moro, en el año 2011.

Two years ago, during our first trip to the Philippines, we were really excited with find the famous sardine run seen in Isla Pescador. But three months before, they were gone.

This time we came back, one of our best joys were to know they came back. they were located in front of a diving resort, very close to ours. Local guides did not like this diving place, because the wall was a little destroyed, and no more things to see despite the sardines. But sardines are a great spectacle on their own.

The huge ball is located between -3 and -11 meters. You do not see your buddy when you jump over them. You are surrounded all around by silvery sardines, and once you are deep down, it is like night below them. Great figures as they move, when you are in the middle of them... Unforgettable and really awesome dive.

As for seeing them is better a video, and I have not worked on mines yet, here you have one from my friends of La Isleta del Moro in 2011.

Mi equipo de viaje - My travel gear (1)

Una de las cosas que me gusta de España es que estamos rodeados de mar. Vivir en Madrid tiene la ventaja de que cualquier opción es equidistante. Con el tiempo he desarrollado un kit diferente para bucear en la Península o destinos de buceo que requieren un avión. Me gustaría compartir con vosotros este último.

Como tengo la casa patas arriba revisando todo lo que llevaré a Filipinas en unos días, es muy fácil escribir esta entrada.

1. El regulador: este es el mismo para cualquier destino, y desde hace ya 5 años es un Apeks XTX200. Pesa un montón, y se me reduce mucho el equipaje de mano, pero desde mi punto de vista, es una opción ganadora en cualquier tipo de inmersión.

2. El chaleco: tengo un ScubaproGeo, que difiere del modelo actual Go en el lastre integrado. Es un regulador muy ligero, pero que responde estupendamente cuando hace falta. La vejiga es muy grande, y mantiene la traquea identificativa de Scubapro, que me encanta.

3. El traje: generalmente, viajar por buceo en nuestro caso significa mar tropical, así que nuestra opción es el Aqualung Bali. Lo que más me gusta de esta marca es que ha pensado en las mujeres grandes. Si fabricantes, a las mujeres grandes nos gusta vestirnos y nos gusta bucear!!
No quiero hacer esto muy largo, el equipo ligero lo dejo para otra entrada.

¿Cuáles son vuestras opciones para viaje?

One of the things I like about Spain is that it is surrounded by sea. Living in Madrid has another advantage, distance to any of those seas is the same. With time I have made a different kit for diving in Spain or in any other location that requires the use of a plane. I would like to share this last one with you.

As my house is a complete mess revising all that I will need in the Philippines, it is very easy to write this post.

1. Regulator: this is the same in all dives, for the last 5 years I have been using Apeks XTX. It is heavy, and reduces considerably my hand luggage, but from my point of view, is a winner in any kind of dive.

2. BCD: Mine is ScubaPro Geo, that differs from the actual Go in the integrated weight system. Very light jacket, but with a good response when it is needed. Big tank, and keeps the ScubaPro inflator, that I love!

3. Suit: generally, diving trip means tropical sea, so our option is Aqualung Bali. What I like most of this company is that thinks in big women. Yes manufacturers, big women like to dress nicely and love to dive!!!

I do not want to make this too long, so light equipment will be another post.

Debo reconocer que mi vida no ha sido excesivamente fácil desde la última entrada del 9 de Septiembre, pero ¡¡he vuelto!! En unas semanas cierro una etapa profesional, y tras ese momento, nada mejor que unos días de buceo.

Después de 2 años, volveré a Moalboal, después de mil y una pequeñas catástrofes atmosféricas y una gigante que aún recordamos todos, no se cómo estará Filipinas. Nuestro primer viaje allí fue la primera experiencia asiática, y la recuerdo como una semana muy especial. No solo por el buceo (por cierto, muy bueno), sino por la paz que se podía respirar, y la amabilidad extrema de los filipinos.

Y eso es lo que ahora necesito, paz y amabilidad. La cuenta atrás avanza!!

Ese viaje también fue la primera vez que usé la Sony Nex bajo el agua, y revisando las fotos que hice, se nota!! No obstante, quiero compartir con vosotros algunas instantáneas, y espero que os transmitan la paz que me ofreció a mí el hacerlas.









I have to admit that my life has been not so easy since the last post on September 9, but I'm back!! In a few weeks I close a professional period, and after that, there is nothing better than a few diving days.

After 2 years, I will come back to Moalboal. I do not know how I will find Phillipines, after thousands of small catastrophes and a huge one. Our first trip there was our first visit to Asia, and I have great memories of that week. Not only for the diving (great, by the way), but for the peace environment, and the extreme friendliness of the phillipines.

And this is what I need now, peace and friendliness. Countdown is on!!

That trip was my first time diving with my Sony Nex, and revising my photos, it is obvious!! Nevertheless, I would like to share some of the shots, and I hope they give you the peace I found taking them.

Hola Señor Rana, hello Mr. Frog!!

Hola de nuevo,

perdonad estas semanas de silencio, el carnet de conducir me ha tenido fuera del mercado durante unos días. Hoy quiero contaros la reserva de peces rana del Atlántico. Está, como no, en la isla de San Vicente, en Cabo Verde.

Si además buceas con gente, como Dive Tribe que tiene especial cariño a estos peces, verlos está garantizado. Llegamos a ver más de 5 tipos distintos, como en el post anterior ya os dejé uno negro, esta vez os dejo otras fotos.

Me sorprendió mucho una inmersión que se llama Mr. Frogs, junto al puerto de Mindelo, entre basura, la cantidad de ellos que puedes ver. Por un momento, me sentí en Lembeh. Otra razón más para volver pronto de nuevo allí, y seguir descubriendo belleza con Toze, Pedro y Claudio.

I apologize for my silence during last weeks, the driving license is having me out of market for a few days. Today I want to share with you the Atlantic Reserve of Frog Fishes. It is, obviously, in Sao Vicente island, in Cape Verde.

If you add that will dive with people who has a special feeling for these fishes, as Dive Tribe crew, it is guaranteed you will spend time with them. We have seen more than 5 different species, as in a previous post I shared one black, this time I show you other kinds.

I was very surprised with a dive spot called Mr. Frogs, on Mindelo port, between garbage, we saw so many of them. For a while, I felt in Lembeh. Another reason for coming back there, and discovering more beauty with Toze, Pedro and Claudio.

Cabo Verde - Sao Vicente con Dive Tribe

Hola a todos de nuevo,

después de unas semanas de desconexión y mucho buceo, por fin he sacado un poco de tiempo para contaros mis andanzas por el mundo. Este mes de agosto he pasado 9 días en la isla de Sao Vicente en Cabo Verde. Probablemente esta isla es de las más "auténticas" que aún tiene este país africano. Con la música de Cesaria Evora de fondo, hemos disfrutado de unos fondos marinos excepcionales, con gran riqueza tanto en tipos de especies como en cantidad de cada una. Probablemente, de lo más rico que he visto hasta ahora.

Digo hasta ahora, porque la influencia humana siempre tiende a destrozar nuestro ecosistema, así que espero que pueda mantenerse de esta forma el mayor tiempo posible. He lamentado mucho escuchar que la pesca española está saqueando el fondo de tiburones y otras especies.

Hemos buceado con Dive Tribe, y no tengo más que halagos para el trato que hemos recibido. Buceo con mucha seguridad, personal muy atento y muy profesional y en pleno desarrollo de infraestructuras que estoy convencida que va a potenciar mucho más el buceo en la zona. Sin duda, yo vuelvo y pronto!!

Os dejo un pequeño reportaje fotográfico y prometo ir aumentándolo paulatinamente. Hay demasiadas fotos y el trabajo no me deja mucho tiempo!!

After a few weeks of disconnection and many dives, finally I found some time for sharing my new adventures. This month, I spent 9 days in Sao Vicente island, in Cabo Verde. This is probably one of the most "authentic" places in this african country. With the sound of Cesaria Evora, we have enjoyed with one of the most beautiful underwater landscape I have ever seen until now, with unbelievable richness on types and number of each marine species.

I remark the "until now" because the human influence always have the tendency of destroy the ecosystem, and I hope this place can maintain the current situation the longest possible time. I have been ashamed when I heard that the Spanish fishing industry is plandering the area with shark fishing, and other species.

We were diving with Dive Tribe. I only have good words for the treatment received. Secure diving, great crew, very professional and increasing the infrastructures, and for sure they will increase the diving on the island. I am coming back for sure, and soon!!

Here you have a short photo report and I promise to increase it in the following days. Many photos and work does not give me too much free time.

Cabo de Palos - recuperando el ordenador perdido - recovering lost dive computer

Hola de nuevo,

La semana pasada, buceando en cabo de palos, al quitarme una aleta perdí mi Galileo Sol. Cual fue mi sorpresa el lunes pasado, cuando una persona me llamó diciéndome que lo había encontrado. Fue al día siguiente, así que el pequeñín se hizo una inmersión de 1440 minutos. Este fin de semana, se ha vuelto a remojar, de nuevo conmigo.

Esto me ha permitido conocer el centro de buceo Mangamar, recién estrenado. El centro es increíble, grande, ordenado, con zonas amplias de tienda, descanso, limpieza y unos baños que son una gran recompensa tras una inmersión. Y, por último, que no menos importante, su equipo humano tiene una gran calidad, tanto a nivel personal como profesional. Nos hemos sentido en casa. Y volveremos.

Las inmersiones han tenido unas altas dosis de mar de fondo y oleaje, pero como siempre, esta zona no defrauda, aunque las fotos no han sido muy especiales, pero la vida marina es increíble con cualquier condición!!

Muchas gracias Rafa y Marco por guiarnos y cuidarnos en superficie. Gracias Lucía por estar pendiente de todo, y gracias Salvador por recuperar a mi pequeñin!! Moraleja: siempre llevad en el ordenador una arandela de color para asegurarlo, cuando os lo pongáis, colocadla siempre cerca del codo, y por último, que tenga suficiente color, porque si finalmente acaba a 30 metros de profundidad como el mío, si es fluorescente, hay más probabilidades de que alguien lo vea.

Seguimos en la cuenta atrás de vacaciones, y Cabo Verde nos espera... Espero poder colgar en breve un post sobre el tiburón ballena!!!






















Hi there again!

Diving last week on Cabo de Palos, when I was putting out my fin, I lost my computer Galileo Sol. I was really surprised last Monday, when somebody phoned me for informing he found it. It happened a day later, so my little one dived for 1440 minutes. This weekend, it dived again, this time with me again.

Because of this, I had the opportunity of discovering the diving center Mangamar, recently opened. The center is unbelievable, big, in perfect order, big spaces for the shop, resting area, cleaning and restrooms that are a great reward after a dive. And, finally, but not less important, a human team with great personal and professional quality. We felt at home. And we will come back.

Dives this weekend had big dosis of movement underwater and on the surface, but as always, the area does not disappoint, even when photos are not very special, the marine life is awesome in any condition!!

Thanks a lot to Rafa and Marco, for guiding us and taken care of us on the surface. Thanks Lucia for having everything under control, and thanks Salvador for recovering my computer!!.

This is the lesson: bring always with your computer a colored strap for securing on any lost, when you use it, do it closer to your elbow, and finally boy it with enough color, because if at the end you loose it, the color will give a chance of seeing it by somebody else.

We are on the countdown of holidays, and Cape Verde is waiting for us... I hope to write a post of the whaleshark soon!!
