Hola Doha! - Hello Doha!

Hola a todos,

pues aquí estoy rumbo a Moalboal, ya está hecho un tercio del viaje desde Madrid. Hace 2 horas hemos llegado a Doha, y nos quedan otras 5 horas antes de coger el vuelo a Cebú. Diez horas más y llegaremos, y después 3 horas en autobús para recorrer 80 km.

Pero el buceo merece la pena seguro. Tengo la cámara a punto para fotografiar a todo nudibranquio que aparezca por delante mío, y a ver si hay suerte y también vemos las "especialidades de la casa".

Hasta entonces, aprovecharé el wifi gratuito del aeropuerto para ver algún que otro vídeo de la zona.

Hi there!

Here I am, on my way to Moalboal, done one third of the trip from Madrid. Arrived 2 hours ago to Doha, and we have another 5 hours before departing to Cebú. Ten hours of flight, and then 3 more hours by bus for 80 km...

But the dive there worths it, for sure. I have my camera ready for taking photos of every nudibranch that I see, and if we are lucky, some of the "specialties of the house".

Until then, I will take the opportunity of free wifi for watching some videos of the area.

Tiburón ballena en Moalboal - Whaleshark in Moalboal

Estoy a punto de empezar a hacer maletas, próximo destino Filipinas, y ayer en YouTube, me vi varios vídeos de la zona. Cuál ha sido mi sorpresa al ver que en la Isla Pescador, había posibilidad (no se si remota, pero alguien filmó este vídeo) de ver al tiburón ballena.

Se me ha alterado todo, eso si que sería un buen post, y espero poder ofrecerlo la próxima semana. Por ahora hoy os dejo con la majestuosidad de este maravilloso tiburón, no puedo negarlo,me encantan.

I am close to start the packing for my next trip, destiny Phillipines, and yesterday in YouTube i watched some videos of the area. Imagine my surprise when I realised that in Pescador Island, there was the possibility (I am not sure if it is remote, but somebody took this video) of seeing whalesharks.

I was absolutely altered, this could be a great post, and I hope to be able of do it next week. For now on, here you have the majesty of this gorgeus shark, I simply love them.

Plegarias por un buzo – A prayer for a diver

Últimamente estoy bastante desaparecida, pero a pesar que tengo mil y una cosas que quiero contaros, el día a día no me está dejando mucho tiempo.

Ayer, volviendo de viaje, escuché una historia muy curiosa en la radio. Hay una catedral en el Reino Unido, que en el servicio diario hace una plegaria por un buzo, el fue el hombre que, tras 600 años de lucha contra la erosión, finalmente resolvió todos los problemas de esta iglesia.

La catedral comenzó a construirse en el siglo XI, y desde que finalizó su construcción, constantemente había cosas que reparar, pero principalmente su problema eran las filtraciones de agua. Nadie era capaz de resolver este problema, hasta que William Walker fue contratado para trabajar en las obras. Hicieron falta 6 días a la semana durante 6 años de trabajos subacuáticos, para que fueran afianzados los cimientos de la catedral. 25.000 sacos de cemento, 115.000 bloques de hormigón y más de 900.000 ladrillos. Esas son muchas inmersiones.

Desde 1912, cuando William Walker terminó su trabajo, en todos los servicios de la iglesia se hace una plegaria por el. El buzo que salvó una iglesia.










Lately, I am a little missing, but even when I have a thousand things I want to tell you, the day by day is not giving me any time.

Yesterday, when I was returning from a trip, I listened a very curious story on the radio. There is a cathedral in the UK, that in every service they make a prayer for a diver, a man that, after 600 years of fight against the erosion, finally resolved all problems of this church.

The construction of the church started on the XI century, and since the end of the works, there were constantly things to be repaired, but basically the main problem was the water filtrations. Nobody was able to resolve this problem, until William Walker was hired for working there. Were needed 6 days per week, during 6 years of underwater works to get a firm the bases of the cathedral. 25.000 sacks of cement, 115.000 blocks of concrete and more than 900.000 bricks. This is a lot of diving…

Since 1912, when William Walker finished his work, in all services of the church is made a prayer for him. The diver who saved a church.

Buscando el paraiso… ¿Lembeh? – Looking for the paradise…. ¿Lembeh?

Desde hace casi un mes, estoy buscando el paraíso donde quiero perderme durante este verano. Va a ser un verano especial, por lo que necesito un viaje especial y un paraíso único.

Ya son varias las personas que me han recomendado esta parte de Indonesia, hoy os acerco Lembeh, y quedo abierta a vuestras opiniones, porque voy a necesitar tomar una decisión como muy tarde a finales del próximo mes, y estoy hecha un lío.

Lembeh se caracteriza por una vida muy pequeña y muy, muy rara. Pero este vídeo es sobre mis pequeñines favoritos, y con una de mis canciones favoritas… ¿sería capaz de hacer un vídeo parecido??

Esta es una buena forma de empezar esta semana.

Since almost a month, I am looking for a paradise where I want to be lost on this summer. It is going to be a special summer, that is why I need a special trip and an unique paradise.

A few people have recommended me this part of Indonesia, today I get you closer Lembeh, and I am open to your opinions, because I need to take a decision at the end of next month the latest, and I am a mess.

Lembeh is well known for small life, and very, very weird. But this video is about my favorite little things, and one of my favorite songs… will I be able of taking a video like this?

He aquí la posidonia – here is the sea-grass

Como ya os conté, este fin de semana buceé 2 días, pero el primero se inundó la carcasa, por lo que una inmersión de 35 minutos más o menos, tenía que facilitarme un vídeo y alguna foto, tarea muy dura!!

La luz que ofrecen estos días de invierno soleado que estamos disfrutando, es lo mejor para sacar buenos contraluces. Si a eso le añades el vaivén de la poseidonia, tienes un cuadro perfecto.

Ojo con mirar fijamente la poseidonia, porque puede marearte más que un barco en medio de una tormenta, a mi la mezcla de su verde con el azul del mar me deja sin palabras.










As I said you days ago, last weekend I dived 2 days, but as in the first one the housing flooded, on a 35 minutes dive, I had to obtain enough material for a video and some photos, hard work!!

The light on these days of sunny winter we are living, is the best scenario for good backlight. If you add the moves of the sea-grass, you have everything!

Be careful if you fix your eyes on the sea-grass, you can feel dizzy more than on a boat through a storm. But the mix of its green and the blue of the sea, make me speechless.

Mi primer video - My first video

El pasado fin de semana estuve buceando en Cabo de Gata, para probar la nueva carcasa Nauticam para mi cámara de fotos.

El primer día, la base para los brazos hizo que el frontal de ojo de pez no encajara perfectamente, y se me inundó la carcasa. Estuve toda la tarde intentando restaurar la carcasa, y tras hacer una prueba a 3 metros al día siguiente, y ver que no entraba agua, probé con cámara.

Debo reconocer que estaba muy nerviosa, y que las cosas no son tan fáciles como parecen, pero aquí está el primer vídeo. La luz del domingo era preciosa, no se si en YouTube lo podréis percibir, pero estoy muy contenta con el resultado!!

En breve os cuento la nueva adquisición para transportar todos estos trastos. Adelanto un nombre Lowepro.



Last weekend I went for some dives to Cabo de Gata, for testing the Nauticam housing for my camera.

The first day, the base for the light arms made that the fish eye frontal was not perfectly adjusted, and the house sinked. For the whole evening I tried to restore the housing, and after a testing at -3m on Sunday, and realized no water was inside, I tried with the camera.

I have to admit that I was really nervous, and things are not as easy as they seem, but here you have my first video. Sunday light was delicious, maybe you can not see it on YouTube, but I am happy with the result!!

In a little while I will tell you about my new adquisition for transporting the equipment. Here you have an advance: Lowepro.

Probando la carcasa – Testing the camera housing

Hoy ha llegado la carcasa para mi nueva cámara, por fin!! Antes de llevarla al mar, como en otras cámaras, he realizado una prueba de estanqueidad para ver que todo estaba correcto. Sería un completo desastre probar este aparato en el mar con la cámara dentro, y ver cómo no puedo hacer nada mientras se van al traste 700 euros…

Los pasos que sigo son los siguientes:

1. Reviso las juntas tóricas que hacen estanca la carcasa. Fundamental ver que no están estropeadas y lubricarlas con silicona.
2. Introduzco un papel cerca de todos los botones y bordes, a fin de verificar si hay una fuga, por dónde entra el agua.
3. Cierro la carcasa y la introduzco en agua. Esta prueba se puede hacer sin presión, porque si hay filtraciones, se producen sin presión también.
4. Sumergida, reviso que al presionar cada uno de los botones, no entra agua.
5. La prueba no dura más de 5 minutos, si entra agua, entra desde el primer momento.

El próximo fin de semana, la sumergiré sin cámara y veré su comportamiento bajo presión, y lista para usar con la cámara.

The housing for my new camera has arrived today, finally!! Before taking it to the sea, as in other cameras, I have made a watertight integrity test to see that everything was correct. It would be a complete desaster if I made the test with the camera on the sea and I can not do anything while 700 euros are sinking…

The steps I follow are:

1. Revise the o-ring seal that makes the housing watertight. It is essential to verify it is not broken and lubricate with silicone.
2. Introduce a paper inside the camera housing close to the bottoms, and verify if there is any place where water is filtrating.
3. I close the camera housing and put it into water. This test can be made without pressure, because if it is sinking, it happens without pressure.
4. Underwater, it is necessary pressing each bottom, and verify there is no water inside the camera.
5. Test does not take more than 5 minutes; it sinks in the first minute.

Next weekend, I bring the camera housing underwater, and I will see its behavior under pressure, and it will be ready for being used with the camera.
